1. What are your hours of operation?

The District Office is open:

Monday - Friday

8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The District Office is closed on the following Holidays:

• New Year's Eve
• New Year's Day
• Martin Luther King Day
• President's Day Memorial Day
• Independence Day Labor Day
• Veteran's Day
• Thanksgiving Day
• Day after Thanksgiving
• Christmas Eve
• Christmas Day

Please note: if a holiday falls on a Saturday it will be observed the Friday before, if a holiday falls on a Sunday it will be observed the following Monday.

2. What time do the parks open and close?

All parks open at 7:00 a.m. 365 days a year.

All parks close at Dusk, which is approximately:

• 7:00 p.m. from October to March, and approximately 9:00 p.m. from April through September
• With the exception of the Miller Park Tennis Courts which closes at 10:00 p.m.
• With the exception of the Fair Oaks Park Softball Fields which closes at 10:30 p.m. / 11:00 p.m.

3. How many facilities and parks are there in the District?

The Fair Oaks Recreation and Park District currently owns, operates and maintains nine parks and eight facilities.

4. What are the District's rental opportunities?

The District has:

• Various multi-purpose fields that are the perfect location for your next celebration

5. How much does it cost to rent the facilities?

Please email Ian Roberts to get additional information on rental cost for each Indoor and Outdoor Facility, deposit, security and insurance requirement.

6. Do I need a permit to have a bounce house in the Park?

The District allows bounce houses at Fair Oaks and Miller Parks only when renting the Picnic areas. The bounce houses can only be set up in designated areas of the park. The District requires that the renter supply an original copy of the Bounce House Company's Liability Insurance naming the Fair Oaks Recreation and Park District as additionally insured for $1,000,000 for the day of the event. Documentation of insurance must be on file at the District Office 30 days prior to the event. The District can provide a list of the bounce house companies whose insurance is current and on file at the District.

7. Can we sleep overnight in the parks?

Overnight camping is not allowed in the parks.

8. Are you closing your bathrooms?

All district restroom facilities are open during operating hours.

9. Are picnic areas available on a first come, first serve basis if they are not rented?

Yes. Reserved picnic areas are available on a first come, first serve basis if they are not rented or reserved. Please contact the Parks On-Call number at 916-240-3651 during operating hours to find out if a specific BBQ area has been rented. Please only call the same day that you are interested in using the area. Any calls made prior to your day of interest will be directed to the District office.

10. Can I bring my own BBQ into the park?

Yes, both charcoal and propane BBQs are allowed.

11. Can I have alcohol in the parks?

Alcohol is allowed in district parks with the exception of: Plaza, Village, and Bannister Parks.

However, no glass bottles are allowed in any parks.

12. Why does my dog have to be on a leash? Why can't they be in the Vernal Pools?

The County of Sacramento requires all dogs to be on a leash when in public. Penalty is enforceable by Animal Control or the Sheriff's Department. The Vernal Pools are federally protected land. A dog entering the Vernal Pools transmits foreign horticultural substances (e.g. fertilizers, grass seed, etc.). The Department of Fish and Game and the Vernal Pool Management Plan require the posting and enforcement of the prevention of dogs in the Vernal Pools.

13. Can I park at Bannister Park?

The primary purpose of the parking lot is for users of Bannister Park, not river access.

Bannister Park Parking Regulations are as follows:

• Monday through Friday before 5:00 p.m., up to 3 hours, permit not required
• Monday through Friday after 5:00 p.m., parking permit only
• Weekends and Holidays all day, up to 3 hours, permit not required

Parking violations are enforced by the County of Sacramento Parking Enforcement Division. Parking permits are not sold to the general public, they will only be issued to permitted users of Bannister Park.

14. Does Fair Oaks Recreation and Park District have a Skate Park?

Yes, the skate park is located at Fair Oaks Park, 11549 Fair Oaks Blvd. There is no fee to use this facility. Helmets, knee-pads and elbow pads are required.

15. How do I get on the mailing list for the District Activity Guide, The Roost?

To be added to the mailing list to receive the activity guide, call the District Office at 916-966-1036, or email the administration. Don't forget the activity guide can be viewed online as well.

16. Where or how do I register for programs?

There are five ways to register:

• Online at fairoakspark.org.
• In person at the District Office, 4150 Temescal Street, in the Old Fair Oaks Village
• By mailing a completed registration form and fees (check or credit card / no cash) to

• Using our after hours drop box (located adjacent to entry doors at the District Office) with completed registration form and fees - no cash.
• Via fax to 916-966-9863 with a completed registration form and a credit card number.

17. Where or how do I reserve facilities?

All facility reservations must be made in person at the District Office located at
4150 Temescal Street
Fair Oaks, CA 95628

Facility reservations are taken Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Facility reservations may be made up to one year in advance.

18. Can I get financial assistance to participate in recreation programs?

The District offers the Don Ralls Scholarship to help with financial assistance for programs. Please visit the Programs / Class Scholarships page for more information.

19. How can I get a refund for a Parks and Recreation program?

The District's Refund Policy is as follows:

• Full refund will be given if the Fair Oaks Recreation and Park District cancels the program or if the participant is unable to attend for medical reasons.
• No refunds will be issues after the class or program has had its second meeting.
• All refund requests will be approved or denied by the Fair Oaks Recreation and Park District.
• All refund checks will be processed through the County of Sacramento and mailed within 4 to 6 weeks.
• The Fair Oaks Recreation and Park District reserved the right to adjust the policy, depending upon the circumstances and the severity of the situation.
• The online convenience fee is non-refundable.
• All refunds must be accompanied by a refund request form.

20. Which payment methods are accepted by the District?

Fair Oaks Recreation and Park District accepts Cash (not by mail or drop box), Check, Money Order, Visa, MasterCard, and American Express.

21. Who regulates the wildlife (including the chickens)?

The Fair Oaks Recreation and Park District has no oversight with respect to wild animals (including the chickens). For information regarding wildlife, contact either: Sacramento County Animal Care and Regulations at 916-875-5656 California Department of Fish and Game at 916-455-0411.

22. I want to report suspicious or criminal activity in the park?

Please contact the Sheriff's Department regarding emergency situations by calling 911. For a non-emergency situation call 916-874-5111.

23. How do I report graffiti or other problems within a park?

Please call the Parks Department at 916-240-3651 or by sending us an email.

24. How do I become a volunteer?

To apply for a volunteer position with the District, please visit the volunteer page or email Sabrina Bernardo.

25. Can I post flyers / banners in the parks?

No solicitation, vending, advertising, or signposting is allowed in the parks, unless approved by the Recreation and/or Parks Superintendent. Please submit all posting requests to Fair Oaks Recreation and Park District Office, 4150 Temescal St., Fair Oaks, Ca 95628.
